Memphis Emergency and Storm Tree Service
Tree down on the house, the car or across the drive? Start here.
Call (901) 979-4150 or send the form and tell us what happened.
What to do first
Stay clear. Keep everyone away from the tree and anything it is touching.
Treat every downed line as live. Don't touch it, or a tree that is touching it.
Call 911 if anyone is hurt, a line is down, or there is any immediate danger.
Don't cut near the lines. MLGW says not to attempt any tree work if lines are near.
Then call us. Tell us where the tree is, what it is on, and whether the drive or the street is blocked.
Who picks up what
- A tree in the street. The City of Memphis clears fallen trees from the roadway. See the City's street maintenance page.
- A tree on your house. The City says it does not remove those. It is only responsible for trees in the street.
- MLGW and storm debris. MLGW does not remove tree debris caused by a storm.
- Debris at the curb. City of Memphis pickup takes tree debris under 5 ft long and under 13 in across, in bulk piles up to 10 cubic yards. Contractors have to take away the debris they create, or the owner pays. The City also lists Farrisview and Collins Yard as drop-off sites.
Storms Memphis has seen
- Feb 3, 2022 ice storm. MLGW says more than 233,000 customers lost power.
- Jan 30 to Feb 2, 2023 ice. A National Weather Service experimental ice map shows about 0.2 in of ice at Memphis and 0.29 in at Collierville.
- July 2023 storm. A local news report put peak MLGW outages at 135,000.
- Jan 23 to 25, 2026 winter storm. Preliminary National Weather Service reports in Shelby County ran from 4.2 to 6 in of snow, plus sleet.
Ice and heavy snow load up limbs. A tree that is already weak is the one most likely to come down. If one worries you now, see tree removal or tree trimming.
What moves storm pricing
Storm work isn't in the tree cost calculator. It is quoted after inspection. What changes the cost:
- A tree on a structure. Roof, garage, fence or car.
- Lines involved. A tree tangled near the lines is a different job.
- Access. Whether a crane can reach, or the work has to go around the house.
- How much is down. One limb, or a whole tree and its crown.
How it works
Call or send the form. Say what the tree is on and what is blocked.
We look at the tree, what is under it and how to reach it.
We take it off, cut it up and clean up as agreed.
