There is no email to enter and nothing to sign up for. The range shows when you press the button.

How to use it

  1. Service. Pick tree removal, tree trimming, or stump grinding only.

  2. Trees by size. Enter how many trees you have in each size: small (under 30 ft), medium (30 to 60 ft) or large (60 to 80 ft). Up to 10 of each. Trees over 80 ft are quoted after inspection.

  3. Access. Removal only. Choose open yard, or tight access, near a house, fence or power lines. One setting covers the whole job.

  4. Crane. Removal only. It shows once you enter a large tree. Tick it if a crane may be needed.

  5. Haul-away. Removal only. Keep haul-away, or choose to clear the wood and brush yourself.

  6. Stumps by diameter. Enter how many stumps in each band, up to 10 of each. Measure across the widest part of the stump at ground level.

Worked examples

Estimate, not a quote. Each one runs through the calculator exactly as you would.

  1. Two trees in a tight yard. Removal of one medium and one large tree, tight access, haul-away kept, no crane, plus two stumps, one 13 to 24 in and one 25 to 36 in. Rough range: $6,300 to $8,150.

  2. Trimming three trees. Two medium and one small. Rough range: $1,425 to $1,775.

  3. Three stumps, no trees. One each up to 12 in, 13 to 24 in and 25 to 36 in. Rough range: $625 to $775.

  4. One small tree, you keep the wood. Removal in an open yard, and you clear the wood and brush yourself. Rough range: $425 to $525.

  5. One large tree with a crane. Removal in an open yard, crane ticked, plus one stump 37 to 48 in. Rough range: $4,050 to $5,000.

What moves the price

  • Height. Small, medium and large trees sit in separate bands.
  • Access. For removal, a tree near the house, a fence or power lines takes more time and care. The calculator does not adjust trimming for access.
  • A crane. Some large trees need one.
  • Haul-away. Hauling the wood and brush is in the removal range. Keeping it yourself lowers the range.
  • The tree's condition. Dead, hollow or storm-damaged trees can take longer. The calculator can't see that, which is why the real price comes from a site visit.
  • Stump width. Wider stumps cost more to grind. Hauling off the grindings and adding topsoil can cost extra.

What the calculator does not price

These are quoted after inspection:

  • Storm and emergency work. See emergency and storm damage.
  • Trees on a structure, or tangled in lines.
  • Trees over 80 ft.
  • Stumps wider than 48 in.
  • Hauling off the grindings and adding topsoil.
  • Trees over buildings or lines that need special rigging.
